
Administration reaches to take possession of land acquired for express highway, farmer leaders detained.
Sri Goindwal Sahib, April 29 – Today, a major operation was carried out by the police administration with heavy force in villages Warring Suba Singh, Kang, Jahangir, Khadoor Sahib, Khawaspur and Jhander Mahapurakh of Khadoor Sahib constituency to take possession of land acquired for the Jammu-Katra National Express Highway. During this, dozens of farmers who were protesting were detained by the police. At the same time, during this operation, the police allegedly plowed the standing maize crop of the farmers.

During the operation, various villages of Khadoor Sahib constituency were seen converted into police cantonments. Kisan Sangharsh Committee Punjab leaders Dyal Singh Miawind and Harbinderjit Singh, who were opposing the police action, said that the police administration is bullying the farmers in collaboration with the Punjab government at the behest of the central government.
Farmers Dalbir Singh, Iqbal Singh, Ranjit Singh, Major Singh etc. said that the government is not paying a fair price for the land acquired for the Katra Express Highway and the farmers are not being provided with a service road for the corridor regarding the land allotted for the highway. The affected farmers said that during today's action, the police administration has destroyed the standing maize crop of the farmers.
