Hisar: – OP Sihag, who was the President of HAU Hisar Student Union in 1982 and is currently the District President of Jannayak Janata Party, District Panchkula, has congratulated the protesting students of Haryana Agricultural University, Hisar on their victory.
It is worth mentioning that the students of the university were on strike for the last 21 days to get their just demands accepted, their movement got full support from all sections of the society, social organizations, political parties and alumni. Their demands were accepted by the administration last night.
OP Sihag said that for the last 29 years, due to the absence of direct elections of Students Union in colleges and universities in the entire state including HAU, the governments and administrative officials of these educational institutions have run a dictatorship by pushing the students and youth power to the margins and suppressing their enthusiasm and passion.
Sihag said that he feels proud to say that all of you students have made an impossible task possible by maintaining unity and restraint among yourselves.
The University administration and the Haryana government tried everything from threats to temptations to stop and end your peaceful struggle against injustice, but you all did not give up on your goal. Sihag said that he is happy that the way the girls of the University came forward and contributed to this struggle is incomparable.
Former Student Union President O P Sihag said that just as HAU Hisar always led the student movements in raising voice against injustice in the state till three decades ago, you all have taken everyone along and carried forward the same tradition with your courage, unity and passion. He said that he has full faith that the voice of the struggle that you people have blown against dictatorship and injustice will act as a torch and flame in the entire state.
O P Sihag said that in his view this movement will be recorded in history in view of today's circumstances. He requested all the students to always stand against injustice or dictatorship by showing unity in the future, maintaining mutual brotherhood and also be ready to fight for their rights along with their education.
