No check on illegal mining in Balachaur Assembly Constituency, connivance with the ruling party- a huge betrayal of people's rights.

Balachaur- Illegal mining has been a major problem in the Assembly Constituency for a long time. It is not only an issue that hinders progress, but also raises serious questions of moral, economic and environmental damage. Now it has become clear that all this work is happening directly under the patronage of the government.

Balachaur- Illegal mining has been a major problem in the Assembly Constituency for a long time. It is not only an issue that hinders progress, but also raises serious questions of moral, economic and environmental damage. Now it has become clear that all this work is happening directly under the patronage of the government.
Lands, roads, water sources and environment of the common people are being tampered with- and all this is happening at the behest of those people who were elected by the people for the welfare of the people, but alas, today the same people are eating away the rights of the people. On 27 June 2025, the police have registered serious FIRs in two separate cases related to illegal mining:
Under FIR number 91, a case has been registered against Buta Ram son of Tarsem Lal resident of village Udhanwal, who is a close and trusted associate of the current MLA Balachaur. The person has been booked under Sections 21(1) and 4(1) of the Mines and Minerals Act, 1957.
FIR No. 96 has also booked Ravinder Bhatia alias Devi resident of village Adoana who is a close relative of sitting MLA Santosh Kataria and Rinku Kasana alias Buta under the same legal sections.
This entire incident shows that mining in Balachaur Assembly Constituency is directly controlled by the ruling party and its close aides. This is not an isolated incident, it presents a picture of an organised mafia which is auctioning off people’s land, forest and water on the pretext of fake development. We remember that during the previous Congress government also “Munda Tax” was collected in a similar manner and now the present government has also embarked on the same path.
Neither morality is left nor fear of law. BJP strongly condemns this serious matter and appeals to the Punjab government to take strict action against these illegal activities. We have full faith that the sensible, ethical and sensitive people of Balachaur Assembly Constituency know this truth.
They know who is in the interest of the Assembly Constituency and who is harming the rights of the people thinking about their own interests. We have full faith that in the coming elections, the people of Balachaur will stand with the truth and show their place to those who came just for the chair and made business a part of politics.
On this occasion, BJP expresses its loyalty towards honesty and legal process. We especially appreciate the Police Department, Administration and Mining Department for showing courage to rise above government pressure or political bias and register serious cases even against people close to the ruling party.
This is a good beginning, which shows that there are still honest officers within the system, who consider the law supreme. We hope that this action will set an example and in future also work will be done in a similar fair and fearless manner.
Bharatiya Janata Party has always been and will remain a supporter of democracy, law and ethical principles. We will continue to protect the rights of the people, no matter how far we have to go for it.
