
'Be careful - animal bites can cause rabies'.
Nawanshahr- On the directions of Civil Surgeon Dr. Gurinderjit Singh, the Mass Media Wing today made people aware about health programs at New Doaba Taxi Stand, Nawanshahr. During this, Deputy Group Education and Information Officer Tarsem Lal said that rabies is fatal, although it can be completely prevented.

During this, Deputy Group Education and Information Officer Tarsem Lal said that rabies is fatal, although it can be completely prevented.
He said that this disease spreads from rabbits, cats, raccoons, jackals and other animals. He said that if an animal bites, the wound should be immediately washed with soap and running water. Disinfectant (spirit or antiseptic available at home) should be applied on the spot. He said that in such a case, a doctor should be contacted on time and proper treatment should be given. He said that animals usually bite in self-defense and on provocation.
He said that animal bites are treated free of cost in government hospitals. Along with this, he asked to dial toll free medical helpline 104 for health related information and suggestions. Along with this, he inspired people to stay away from drugs and join sports under the war on drugs. Health education was given on what to do and what not to do to avoid heat, what to do and what not to do to prevent diseases under NCD and getting treatment for snake bite at District Hospital Nawanshahr.
