2nd PGI Arthroplasty Course 2025 kicked off at NINE Auditorium, PGIMER

The 2nd PGI Arthroplasty Course, under the aegis of the Arthroplasty Society of Tricity, commenced today at PGIMER, Chandigarh, with an overwhelming response from orthopedic surgeons across the country. With the theme “Simplifying the Complexity”, the course promises to deliver high-value insights into complex hip and knee arthroplasty.

The 2nd PGI Arthroplasty Course, under the aegis of the Arthroplasty Society of Tricity, commenced today at PGIMER, Chandigarh, with an overwhelming response from orthopedic surgeons across the country. With the theme “Simplifying the Complexity”, the course promises to deliver high-value insights into complex hip and knee arthroplasty.
The inaugural session featured a warm welcome by Prof Vijay G Goni, Head of Department of Orthopaedic surgery, Organising chairman and General secretary of Arthroplasty Society of Tricity, followed by lighting of the lamp by all the eminent faculties and an overview of the course objectives. Esteemed dignitaries highlighted the critical need for evidence-based, practical training in joint replacement surgeries.

Highlights of Day 1:
- Live Surgical Demonstrations: Attendees witnessed state-of-the-art procedures in complex knee and hip replacements performed by leading experts, offering real-time insights into surgical nuances.
- Signature & Master Class Sessions (Knee Focus): Topics such as limb alignment, bone loss management, and handling of patellar deformities were covered in depth. Renowned speakers like  Dr. Mohak Kataria, Dr. Hari Om Aggarwal, and Dr. H.S. Gill shared advanced techniques in primary Total Knee Arthroplasty (TKA).
- Expert Edge Session: Unique cases involving ceramic TKA, peri-articular fractures, and robotic/navigated surgery were discussed, emphasizing innovations and technology-driven precision.
- Panel Discussion: Senior surgeons like Dr Vijay G Goni, Dr Vijay Kumar, Dr Aditya Aggarwal and many more  engaged in interactive discussions on complex TKA scenarios, including osteoporotic knees and extra-articular deformities, fostering critical debate and knowledge exchange.
- Networking & Collaboration: The event offered rich opportunities for young orthopedic surgeons and trainees to engage with national leaders in arthroplasty, culminating in a Gala Dinner to celebrate academic camaraderie.
As the first day concludes on a high note, participants look forward to Day 2, which will center on hip arthroplasty, abstract presentations, and hands-on workshops covering robotics, navigation, and saw bone techniques.
