Nawanshahr - As part of the steps being taken by the Punjab Government to prevent illegal and poisonous liquor, the Excise Department officials have instructed the marriage palace, restaurant, hotel and bar owners of the district to immediately destroy the empty bottles after serving and consuming liquor, so that these bottles cannot be misused.

On the instructions of Assistant Commissioner of Jalandhar Range 1 of the Excise Department, a special meeting was held with the marriage palace, restaurant, hotel and bar owners at the local Excise Office under the leadership of Excise Officer Jaswinder Jeet Singh Bedi.
While talking to the hotel, bar and restaurant owners, Excise Officer Jaswinder Jeet Singh Bedi said that after use, empty liquor bottles should be destroyed in the presence of the Excise Inspector of the concerned circle. He said that this is a very important action, which should be ensured at all costs, so that these bottles are not used to fill fake and cheap liquor.
He said that a large number of such elements are active who fill such bottles with poisonous liquor and sell it to innocent labourers and poor people of rural areas by luring them to sell expensive liquor at cheap prices. He said that such illegal activities are harming human health and causing loss of life and property, to stop which everyone's cooperation is necessary.
He said that the teams of the Excise Department are continuously checking in the district so that any such act can be stopped. He appealed to the people that if they have any information in this regard, then they should inform the Excise Department so that action can be taken in time. Excise Inspectors Sunil Bhardwaj and Gurpreet Singh were also present on this occasion.
