
Mock drill held at District Administrative Complex, people made aware to deal with emergency situation
Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar, May 31- The district administration conducted a mock drill at the District Administrative Complex on Saturday evening as a practice, the aim of which was to tell the people how to protect themselves with full vigilance in the event of any untoward incident and how to stay safe.

On the directions of Deputy Commissioner Ankurjit Singh, the mock drill was conducted under the leadership of Additional Deputy Commissioner Rajiv Verma in the presence of officers of various departments.
Rajiv Verma said that in view of the tense situation with the neighboring country in the past few days, this mock drill was conducted only as a practice so that people could be made aware of how to deal with emergency situations.
He said that officials/employees of the Health Department, Fire Brigade, Police, Civil Defense, Revenue Department, besides representatives of social organizations of the city and members of trade associations were present at the mock drill.
He said that this process was conducted as a preparation for how to keep ourselves safe if the need arises in the future. He said that there is no need to fear or panic about the mock drill because it is a practice and a proactive action.
The Additional Deputy Commissioner said that there will be a blackout in the district from 8:00 pm to 8:15 pm on Saturday night, during which the lights will be completely turned off after the siren sounds.
He appealed to the people that the siren will sound before the blackout, which will also result in the blackout and people should ensure compliance with it. He said that during the blackout, generators, inverters etc. should be turned off and the lights of the cameras should also be turned off.
He said that during the blackout, everyone should keep the lights of their houses/shops and establishments off. The police officials appealed to the people to dial the emergency number 112 for information and assistance in any emergency, through which information reaches every concerned department.
Apart from senior officers of the civil and police administration, representatives of various organizations were also present on the occasion.
