Various activities related to hypertension awareness organized at Civil Hospital Hoshiarpur.

Hoshiarpur- As per the guidelines of Health Department Punjab and Civil Surgeon Hoshiarpur Dr. Pawan Kumar Shagotra, hypertension awareness activities were organized at Civil Hospital Hoshiarpur under the leadership of Senior Medical Officer Dr. Swati Shehmar. Students of various nursing colleges participated in these activities and people were made aware about prevention of hypertension.

Hoshiarpur- As per the guidelines of Health Department Punjab and Civil Surgeon Hoshiarpur Dr. Pawan Kumar Shagotra, hypertension awareness activities were organized at Civil Hospital Hoshiarpur under the leadership of Senior Medical Officer Dr. Swati Shehmar. Students of various nursing colleges participated in these activities and people were made aware about prevention of hypertension.
Meanwhile, Dr. Swati said that Hypertension Awareness Month is being celebrated from May 17 to June 17. The main objective of which is to increase the knowledge of people by making them aware about high blood pressure. Due to changing lifestyle, many people are suffering from high blood pressure, due to which there is a continuous increase in heart diseases, kidney failure etc.
Even children are falling prey to this disease. He said that fried or high-salt food, old age, drugs, obesity, lack of exercise and mental stress are the main causes of high blood pressure. By making changes in our lifestyle, we can prevent other non-communicable diseases like blood pressure like diabetes, heart attack etc.
He said that under these activities, health talks were given by the students of Shri Guru Ram Das College of Nursing highlighting the causes and risks of hypertension and went to different wards. Students of Mother Mary College of Nursing made the patients and general public aware about the symptoms of blood pressure in the MCH wing.
A quiz competition was organized by ICN Mrs. Harpreet Kaur between Guru Ram Das Nursing College and ST Nursing College. In which the knowledge of the students about hypertension was tested. Dr. Swati said that the aim of these initiatives is to promote health awareness and prevention of hypertension (high blood pressure) in the community.
