Chandigarh, May 17- MP (Rajya Sabha) and Chancellor of Chandigarh University Satnam Singh Sandhu announced that Chandigarh University, the country's number one private university, has canceled all its Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with 23 universities of Turkey and Azerbaijan with immediate effect. Chandigarh University has taken this decision keeping in mind the national interest.
This decision includes cancelling student and faculty exchange programs, joint research projects, dual degree programs and all types of academic collaborations with institutions of both countries with immediate effect. It is noteworthy that this decision of Chandigarh University has come after the increasing tension between India and Pakistan. And it has been taken as a response to the support being given by Azerbaijan to Pakistan, which supports terrorism. 
Giving detailed information, Satnam Singh Sandhu said that at a time when our armed forces are protecting the country by risking their lives, we as an educational institution cannot stay behind and any kind of agreement (MoU) cannot be continued with those countries which are helping Pakistan, which supports terrorism, in any way.
He said that the Prime Minister of the country, Shri Narendra Modi has taken tough decisions against terrorism and at such a time it is the duty of every institution and person of the country to support Prime Minister Narendra Modi and support the armed forces of the country in every way. In future, we will never have any relationship with any such institution which weakens the sovereignty and unity of India.
He appealed to Indian students to pursue education in countries like Turkey and Azerbaijan. Satnam Singh Sandhu said that the vision of Chandigarh University has always been 'Nation First'. And in accordance with this, we have decided to end all our academic relations with Turkey and Azerbaijan. When it comes to national security, integrity and sovereignty of the country, we will not accept anything.
Will not make any compromise. Sandhu further said that being responsible citizens of the country, we should be united in this hour of crisis. We should unite and boycott all relations or support with those countries. Who have directly or indirectly worked against our national interests.
