India halts water flow through Baglihar dam after suspension of Indus Waters Treaty: Sources.
New Delhi, May 4 - India has halted water flow through Baglihar dam on the Chenab river and is planning a similar halt at the Kishanganga dam on the Jhelum river, sources said. The hydroelectric dams - Baglihar in Jammu's Ramban and Kishanganga in north Kashmir - enable India to regulate the timing of water release, a source familiar with the matter said.

India has decided to suspend the decades-old (Indus Waters) Treaty after a terror attack in Pahalgam in Jammu and Kashmir on April 26, which killed 26 people. The Indus Waters Treaty, brokered by the World Bank, has governed the use of the Indus River and its tributaries between India and Pakistan since 1960.
The Baglihar Dam has long been a subject of dispute between the two neighbours. Pakistan has sought mediation from the World Bank in the past. The Kishanganga Dam has faced legal and diplomatic scrutiny, particularly over its impact on the Neelum River, a tributary of the Jhelum.
