Nawanshahr- Today, the District Committee meeting of Pendu Mazdoor Union Punjab was held under the chairmanship of state leader Kamaljit Sanawa. In which the basic demands of the labourers were discussed. On this occasion, Kamaljit Sanawa while addressing the meeting said that the delegation of Gramin Mazdoor Union will meet on 25th March to resolve the basic demands of the labourers which are pending for a long time.
He said that Pendu Mazdoor Union will fully participate in the conference to be held in Khatkar Kalan on 23rd March on the martyrdom day of Shaheed Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev. On this occasion, state leader Hari Ram Rasoolpuri and Kiranjit Kaur Dharamkot said that the labour class in the villages is trapped in a lot of debt, the government should waive their debt and make arrangements for alternative loans for the labourers.
A long time period should be given for loan repayment and along with that employment should be arranged for the workers so that the workers can repay the loan and live their life in a better way. He also said that a big reason for debt is unemployment, to which our government is not paying any attention.
On this occasion, the leader of Bhatta Mazdoor Union Gurdayal Singh Rakkad expressed his views and said that unemployment is a big problem and the government should pay attention to it. The MNREGA work that the government has started in the villages, this scheme is working only superficially. Because a lot of scams are happening in it.
Under this scheme, workers are given 90 days of employment, but due to bureaucratic scams, even 90 days of work is not given in many villages and he also demanded that instead of 90 days, workers should be given employment for the whole year so that the workers can improve their lives. He said that the condition of the houses of the workers in the villages is pathetic, due to which they may suffer loss of life and property.
Therefore, in view of the houses of these workers, assistance amount should be released under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana and the workers should be given the benefit of this scheme. He also said that if the government and the district administration do not pay attention to these demands, a big struggle will be done in the coming days. On this occasion, Bagicha Singh Sahungra, Satnam Singh Ladi, Surinder Mirpuri, Parshottam and Jaswinder Singh were also present from Balachaur area.
