Derabassi/SAS Nagar, February 24: MLA Kuljit Singh Randhawa on Monday questioned Agriculture Minister Gurmeet Singh Khuddian in the Assembly session about the poor condition of roads under Punjab Mandi Board in Derabassi. Due to closure of Shambhu border, the traffic on the roads of Derabassi-constituency has increased significantly, due to which the roads have been damaged. This is causing a lot of inconvenience to the people of Derabassi and they are now facing many problems in daily commuting.
MLA Randhawa raised the important question whether the government has any proposal to repair these roads and if yes, by when can the people of Derabassi expect these to be repaired. The closure of Shambhu border has not only affected the movement of goods and services but has also had a negative impact on the infrastructure of the area. The broken roads have become a major cause of concern for the residents who are now eagerly waiting for a solution from the government.
He informed that Jharamdi barrier of Dera Bassi constituency is the gateway to Punjab which also houses the historic Gurdwara Pajokhra Sahib where thousands of people visit every Sunday to pay obeisance and by the grace of God even the speechless can speak. The condition of the road leading to it is very bad and needs to be repaired and widened.
Replying to a question by MLA Randhawa, Agriculture Minister Gurmeet Singh Khuddian assured that the government is aware of the issue and is actively considering proposals for repair of roads under Punjab Mandi Board in Dera Bassi. He said that due to closure of Sambhu border, Punjab Mandi Board has started working on the link roads related to SAS Nagar and these roads have been damaged, however there is no need to repair the roads.
These link roads will be repaired after approval from the competent authority. The minister also said that the government is committed to providing better infrastructure to the people of Punjab and will take necessary steps to resolve the issue at the earliest. The people of Derabassi can expect to see renovation work happening in the near future.
The closure of Shambhu border has badly affected the roads under Punjab Mandi Board in Derabassi, due to which they have been damaged and the residents are facing inconvenience. A question raised in the assembly by MLA Kuljit Singh Randhawa has highlighted this serious issue and urged the government to take necessary action.
The people of Derabassi are waiting for the repair of these roads and are hoping for smooth and safe travel in future.
