Sewermen suspend strike on the appeal of Chairman of Safai Karamchari Commission

Hoshiarpur- Sewermen of Municipal Corporation Hoshiarpur have decided to suspend their strike after the active initiative and appeal of Chairman of Punjab State Safai Karamchari Commission Chandan Grewal. The Chairman held a special meeting with the representatives of Safai Karamchari Union and employees at the District Administrative Complex today, in which their problems were heard and assured of solution.

The Chairman held a special meeting with the representatives of Safai Karamchari Union and employees at the District Administrative Complex today, in which their problems were heard and assured of solution.
In the meeting, the Chairman took the demands of the employees seriously and said that the Commission is fully committed to solve their problems. He appealed to the union leaders to maintain the cleanliness system of the city and demanded that they end the strike and return to work. Deputy Commissioner Komal Mittal, Mayor Surinder Kumar and Municipal Corporation Commissioner Dr. Amandeep Kaur were also present in the meeting.
Chandan Grewal said that the legitimate demands of sewermen like permanent employment and other benefits will be met on priority basis. He assured that a meeting will be held soon between the Safai Karamchari Union and Local Bodies Minister Dr. Ravjot, in which these issues will be discussed to be resolved. He assured the employees that positive steps will be taken on all their legitimate demands.
He appealed to everyone to work together so that the cleanliness system of the city can be improved. Seeing this initiative of the Chairman of the Safai Karamchari Commission and his sensitivity towards their problems, the union leaders unanimously decided to postpone the strike. Chandan Grewal directed the Municipal Corporation officials to solve the local level demands of the sanitation workers on priority basis.
He said that minor problems should be resolved at the corporation level itself. Joint Commissioner Sandeep Tiwari, Pradeep Saini, Union representative Advocate Rahul Adia, Kamal Bhatti and a large number of sewermen were also present in the meeting.
