Nawanshahr- Deputy Commissioner Ankurjit Singh today visited Talwandi Sibu, Tajowal and Pandarawal, Burj Tehal Das along with administrative officers to take stock of the current condition of Dhussi Dam and said that the water level in the Sutlej River has increased than before but the situation is completely under control.
Deputy Commissioner Ankurjit Singh while talking to the residents and officials of the villages on the spot said that although the water level has increased, there is no need to panic from any side at present because the administrative teams are continuously working at different places.
He said that the dam at Talwandi Sibu has been strengthened so that the flood situation can be dealt with properly. Similarly, while talking to the local people at village Tajowal, the Deputy Commissioner directed the officials to remain constantly alert in view of the increased water level.
While reviewing the ongoing works of further strengthening of the embankment at Pandaraval, the Deputy Commissioner assured the people that the administration is ready to help them at all times. Talking about the increased water level in the Sutlej River, the Deputy Commissioner said that the water level was 40-45 thousand cusecs in the past few days, which has crossed 90 thousand cusecs due to continuous heavy rains in the neighboring state and here.
He said that wherever the embankment needs strengthening, the officials of the concerned departments are working continuously and the embankment is being strengthened with JCB machines as well as soil and sand bags. He appealed to the people that if they feel any fear of flood situation at any place, they should immediately inform the administrative officials or the 24×7 District Level Control Room established at the District Administrative Complex on number 01823-220645.
