Chandigarh- The revived Shiromani Akali Dal President Jathedar Giani Harpreet Singh has surrounded the Central and Punjab governments after the ground reality obtained from the visit to the flood-affected areas. Jathedar Giani Harpreet Singh, giving a strong response, said that the Bhagwant Mann government has declared Punjab an unauthorized unclaimed state.
There is no system with the government in Punjab, while Punjab is having to bear the loss of flood on one hand, on the other hand, Punjab is facing the blind loot of Delhi's raiders. He said that today the situation in Punjab is like an undeclared emergency.
He said that, from these circumstances, one can definitely infer that, due to the resentment and anger of the state residents, the ideological division between the elected representatives of AAP under the theme of Delhi's job versus Punjab's pain will be seen as a big political rebellion and this government will have to go.
Along with this, Giani Harpreet Singh has said that, even after the great devastation caused by the floods in Punjab, the lack of necessary help from the central government is painful and worrying. Thousands of families in Punjab are in trouble, agriculture has been destroyed, houses and shops have suffered major damage, but the central government's apathy has created despair in the minds of Punjabis.
He demanded from the central government that the center, keeping aside its sense of revenge towards the farmers' movement, should release appropriate compensation with immediate effect. Along with this, he said that the silence of the central government is further exacerbating the wounds received from the floods. The atmosphere of despair is increasing due to the silence of the central government.
Giani Harpreet Singh demanded an economic package from the center with immediate effect, he demanded from the center that
*Immediate financial package should be issued for flood affected families*
*Full compensation should be given for destroyed crops, agricultural equipment and livestock*
*Special central fund should be given for the repair of structural damage (roads, bridges, schools, hospitals)*
*Special relief should be announced for the loans of farmers and small traders*
*For flood protection, Punjab should be given a special Flood Management Package and the banks of the rivers should be strengthened*
*Firm arrangements should be made to prevent post-flood diseases by sending central health teams*
*Farmers should be given 100% subsidy on diesel to remove the soil accumulated in the fields due to flood water*
Giani Harpreet Singh said in a strong tone that, we want to remind the center that Punjab has always made sacrifices for the country and contributed to the progress of the country, be it in the field of agriculture or border protection. Be it a matter of defense, the contribution of Punjabis cannot be ignored. But today when Punjab is in trouble, this silence of the center makes us feel alienated.
In this crisis, where the people of Punjab were expecting immediate help, the indifference being received from the central government has created deep sorrow and disappointment in the minds of Punjabis.
Jathedar Giani Harpreet Singh said that the central government should immediately announce a special relief package for Punjab, otherwise the people of Punjab will raise their voice against this silence more quickly. We clearly demand that a special relief package be issued immediately, this is the right of Punjab, not a favor.
