Hoshiarpur- Chairman of Punjab State Safai Karamcharis Commission Chandan Grewal said that Safai Karamcharis are the backbone of our society and respecting them and ensuring a better life for them is our priority. He reached Municipal Corporation Hoshiarpur today and was addressing an important meeting with the officials of the corporation and Safai Karamchari Union.
During this, Mayor Surinder Kumar, Commissioner Municipal Corporation Dr. Amandeep Kaur, Senior Deputy Mayor Praveen Saini, Deputy Mayor Ranjit Chaudhary, other officials and union representatives were present with him. Talking to journalists after the meeting, Chandan Grewal said that the purpose of this meeting was to solve the problems of Safai Karamcharis and to take stock of the schemes being run for their welfare.
He said that taking cognizance of the strike of sewermen, he has reached Hoshiarpur to listen to their problems. He said that he has heard the problems of Safai Karamcharis today and the problems which are at the corporation level will be resolved on the spot, while other problems will be brought to the notice of Local Bodies Minister Dr. Ravjot Singh and it will be ensured that those problems are also resolved soon. He said that Safai Karamcharis play an important role in the society and it is the duty of the administration to ensure their respect and welfare.
During the meeting, Safai Karamcharis shared their problems. Mr. Grewal directed the officials to resolve the local level problems of Safai Karamcharis as soon as possible. He also asked to ensure that every employee gets salary on time and they are provided work related facilities. He also stressed on arranging necessary equipment and training for the safety of Safai Karamcharis.
During the meeting, Chandan Grewal reviewed the progress of the schemes being run by the state government for Safai Karamcharis. He assured the Safai Karamcharis that their problems will be resolved as soon as possible.
