Constituency MLA Balachaur Santosh Kataria attended this function as the chief guest. Addressing the function, he said that according to the Constitution of the country, all citizens have the right to equality, so there should be no discrimination between sons and daughters. He said that daughters should also be given equal opportunities for education and progress. He said that now women are also moving ahead in all fields.
He also said that many schemes are being run by the Punjab Government for the safety, education and progress of girls and women. On this occasion, an oath was taken to provide equal opportunities for education and progress to daughters without any discrimination. On this occasion, Child Development Project Officer Balachaur Puran Pankaj Sharma said that the declining sex ratio is a matter of concern and due to this the society is facing many types of evils.
He said that awareness programs and schemes are being run by government departments in this area. Anganwadi worker Sona and college students Ramanjot and Gurpreet Kaur gave cultural presentations. Similarly, college student Kuljeet Saini was given a letter of appreciation for her excellent sports performance. Supervisor Amandeep Kaur conducted the stage very well. After this, while celebrating Lohri of newborn girls, their parents were honored by the district administration by giving congratulatory messages, baby blankets and baby care kits.
