Nawanshahr, January 9 - A free medical checkup camp was organized for gallstone patients at Sandhu Hospital, Chandigarh Road, Nawanshahr. During the camp, Dr. Sandeep Agarwal, General and Lapro Surgeon of Sandhu Hospital, examined the patients free of cost. Apart from this, the patients were provided with blood tests at special concessional rates.
More than 30 patients with gallstones were examined during this camp that lasted for four days. Talking about gallstones, Dr. Sandeep Agarwal said that not all patients with gallstones need surgery. He said that surgery is generally advised when there is difficulty or pain due to the stones or swelling in the gallbladder.
Sandhu Hospital operators Dr. J.S. Sandhu and Dr. Gurjit Kaur Sandhu said that the patients who were examined during the camp will undergo laparoscopic surgery i.e. operations through a telescope at special concessional rates. These laparoscopic surgeries will be performed on different days in the next one month. They said that if there is a needy patient, he can avail the facility of laparoscopic surgery at concessional rates during the month of January.
