Nawanshahr - Beti Bachao and blood donation services were discussed on the sixth day of the seven-day camp of BLM Girls College. Upkar Society President JS Gidda said that for the spread of Beti Bachao campaign, Upkar Coordination Society has been doing awareness work of celebrating daughters' Lohri every year for the last 20 years. In this way, now the society is moving towards celebrating daughters' Lohri like sons.
In the camp going on in the government school of nearby village Chuharpur, he said that today when girls are achieving special success in every field, the society needs to change the centuries-old thinking and girls and boys need to be given equal love and opportunities to move forward. In Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar district, the number of girls up to one year has been recorded as 962 girls per thousand boys, which is at the first place in Punjab.
 He said that the "New City Model" is known at the national level. He said that Ek Noor NGO Pathlawa, Upkar Society, PSTS Gidda Welfare Society Sujon and Channi Resort Rahon have made preparations to give Lohri to newborn girls this year. Principal Taranpreet Kaur, social worker Manoj Kanda, head teacher state awardee Ram Lal, camp incharge Hardeep Kaur, Sarpanch Asha Rani, former Sarpanch Surinder Singh, Panchayat members and NSS volunteers were present on this occasion.
