Patiala, July 8- Every year, hundreds and thousands of people die due to drowning during floods. People in flood-affected areas also do not prepare in advance. This idea was given by the Chief Trainer of First Aid, Safety, Health Awareness Mission and Disaster Management Civil Defense First Aid Specialist of Government of India, Mr. Kaka Ram Verma, while giving information to the students and teachers at National High School Patiala through video YouTube, he told that rope, turban, lemon, tree branches, old tubes filled with air, large bottles, empty cold drink bottles with closed lids, etc. can be used to save children, youth or people drowning in rivers, canals or reservoirs.
He told that a rope, turban or a piece of cloth with knots at various places, stick, twigs, plastic chair, stool, slippers should be tied around the neck of the drowning person and the other end of the rope should be tied to a tree or wall.
Through these, drowning people can reach the shore. Kaka Ram Verma said that after taking the victim out of water, hang him on a pot, bucket or flower vase or on the ground on his stomach (in ventilator position) and keep both your hands under his stomach and keep moving the victim's stomach up and down so that the water comes out of his windpipe.
Do not give him water, do not massage his feet with your hands, do not sprinkle water on his head and face. Keep him wrapped in a blanket from feet to chest. If taking him to the hospital, the victim should always be taken in ventilator position i.e. lying on his stomach so that his windpipe does not get blocked.
Principal Poonamdeep Kaur Hoti, staff members and students expressed their gratitude and said that such training should be given to people and youth in flood affected areas, for which the administration and police should take the services of Kaka Ram Verma.
