Patiala, November 5 - The Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare is organizing an awareness camp at the village level to inform the farmers about the rubber crops and giving them information about the proper use of fertilizers. In this regard, the department has set up camps in almost every block of the district, including village Lalochhi, Rajgarh and Kutbanpur.
Additional Deputy Commissioner (Rural Development) of the district Anuprita Johal along with agricultural experts also came to interact with the farmers in these camps. During the camp, the ADC appealed to the farmers and said that the farmers should use fertilizers for the crops only with the advice of the experts, so that the economic losses caused by the use of unnecessary fertilizers can be avoided. He said that with more fertilizers and sprays, the quality of the crop is also adversely affected.
In the camp, Agriculture Officer Ajay Pal Singh Brar encouraged the farmers to use fertilizers according to the requirement of the land in the fields and said that DAP fertilizer is mainly used for supplementing the phosphorus content in the wheat crop.
It contains 46 percent phosphorus and 18 percent nitrogen. He said that some other fertilizers can be used as a substitute for this fertilizer, but their required quantity may be different from DAP.
One such fertilizer is NPK (12:32:16) which contains 32 percent phosphorus, 12 percent nitrogen and 16 percent potassium. 1.5 bags of NPK (12:32:16) can be used in place of one bag of DAP. He said that farmers can also use 3 bags of single superphosphate fertilizer or one bag of triple superphosphate fertilizer instead of one bag of DAP fertilizer.
