Kharar : 1 November 2024: Shamanpreet Singh, a progressive young farmer of the district, who uses NPK as an alternative to DAP, says that we do not need to use or depend only on DAP to fulfill the phosphorus content. He says that last year he used very limited DAP and the use of NPK 12:32:16 for wheat gave very good results.
He said that this time also he will reduce the dependence on DAP and emphasize on the use of triple superphosphate so that there is no dependence only on DAP for the supply of phosphorus. Shamanpreet Singh of Dhadak Kalan, who cultivates sugarcane and potato along with wheat, says that we have made the supply of phosphorus from DAP our means of dependence and we do not use alternative sources only because it will reduce our yield, but the practical use of phosphorus from alternative sources has given good results.
Block Agriculture Officer of Kharar, Dr. Shubkaran Singh Dhaliwal, praising the farmer Shamanpreet Singh, said that Shamanpreet Singh has reduced the dependence on taking phosphorus from DAP and has supplied it from other available sources of phosphorus. District Chief Agriculture Officer Dr. Gurmel Singh said that NPK 12:32:16 contains 32 percent phosphorus along with nitrogen and potash, while another alternative source triple superphosphate contains 46 percent phosphorus.
He said that there are many alternatives of DAP available in the market, so we should not depend on only one fertilizer, we should also supply phosphorus from other alternative sources.
