Bulk Drug Park Project: A new chapter of industrial development in Himachal

The Bulk Drug Park project under construction in Haroli Assembly constituency of Una district of Himachal Pradesh is a decisive step in this direction. The project, to be built in an area of ??1405 acres at a cost of about Rs 2000 crore, aims to take the industrial development of the state to new heights and achieve self-sufficiency in pharmaceutical production.

The Bulk Drug Park project under construction in Haroli Assembly constituency of Una district of Himachal Pradesh is a decisive step in this direction. The project, to be built in an area of ??1405 acres at a cost of about Rs 2000 crore, aims to take the industrial development of the state to new heights and achieve self-sufficiency in pharmaceutical production. The Himachal government has also taken the responsibility of operating it with a capital investment of Rs 1000 thousand crore. The government is trying to give a new direction to the industrial scenario of Himachal through this project, which will provide employment to thousands of people.
Anshul Dhiman, Joint Director, Industries Department, explains that the main objective of the Bulk Drug Park project is to achieve self-sufficiency in the supply of essential materials for the manufacture of medicines, called Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (APIs). This project will provide Himachal Pradesh an opportunity to play a leading role in the pharmaceutical sector. The project is being taken forward rapidly under the able leadership of Chief Minister Thakur Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu, Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri, and Industries Minister Harsh Vardhan Chauhan.
He says that as per the instructions of the state government, Director of Industries Department Rakesh Prajapati is committed to developing the infrastructure under the project at a rapid pace. This will help the state to end its dependence on the import of API. As a result, India's pharmaceutical supply chain will be strengthened and the supply of medicines in the national and international markets will also improve.
Revolutionary step in industrial development
It is noteworthy that with the aim of accelerating industrial development in Himachal Pradesh, Chief Minister Thakur Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu had laid the foundation stone of four major development works worth Rs 150 crore related to the Bulk Drug Park project during his visit to Haroli in the month of June. These include construction of administrative buildings, water projects, and other infrastructure facilities. The Chief Minister laid the foundation stone of major projects like link road to be built from Panjuana to Kuthed Beat at a cost of Rs 42.04 crore, administrative and residential blocks constructed at a cost of Rs 73.84 crore, and 10 MVA power supply at Polian village at a cost of Rs 14.44 crore. Apart from this, a 220/132 kV sub-station will be established at Tahliwal at a cost of Rs 15.83 crore.
At the same time, the Chief Minister has also announced the laying of a 5 km long railway line from Jaijon to Polian, which will cost Rs 3,400 crore. Its purpose is to ensure seamless movement of industrial materials by connecting the Bulk Drug Park to the national network, which will increase the productivity of local industries.
To attract investors, the Himachal government has also launched special incentive schemes, which include facilities like land at Rs 1 per square metre and power supply at cheaper rates.
Along with this, Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri has also met Union Health Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda and demanded additional central assistance for the project so that it can be completed in a timely manner.
Employment and Economic Empowerment
The Bulk Drug Park project will generate unlimited employment opportunities for the local youth. As per estimates, more than 20,000 direct and indirect employment opportunities will be created upon completion of the project. The unemployed youth of the region will be provided technical training to enable them to work in this huge industry. This will greatly improve the economic condition of the local residents, which will raise their standard of living.

According to Didar Singh, a resident of Polian Beet, this project will give his small village a prominent place on the national and international map. He believes that this industry will not only provide new employment opportunities to the local youth, but will also bring economic prosperity to the border areas. Sant Ratan Prakash, a resident of Polian Tibbian, says that the establishment of the Bulk Drug Park will give new dimensions to development in the Haroli assembly constituency. Unemployed youth will get better employment opportunities, which will bring stability in their economic condition. Along with this, infrastructure will also expand in the area, due to which the benefits of services like water, electricity, and road network will reach the public directly.
Lal Singh, a resident of Polian Mazra, believes that the construction of the bulk drug project will not only lead to industrial development but will also increase local land prices. He said that the project will lead to the development of infrastructure in Polian Beet and surrounding areas, which will make the area emerge as a major industrial hub in the coming times. Along with this, local trade and business will also grow, which will strengthen the rural economy.

The Bulk Drug Park project is giving a concrete direction to the call of Chief Minister Thakur Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu for self-reliant Himachal. This project will write a new chapter in the industrial development of the state, which will provide economic development, industrial self-reliance, and unlimited employment opportunities not only to Haroli Assembly constituency, but to the entire Himachal Pradesh and the country.
