
Shri Gulab Chand Kataria was the Chief Guest during the 'Hasde Khelde' programme, a unique sports kits distribution campaign organized by Competent Foundation.
Chandigarh, 11th September 2024: Today, Hon’ble Governor of Punjab and Administrator UT Chandigarh, Shri Gulab Chand Kataria was present as the chief guest during the ‘Haste Khelte’ program which is a unique Sports Kits Distribution Drive, organized by the Competent Foundation at Government Girls Model Senior Secondary School Sector-18, Chandigarh. Shri Kataria presented the sports kits to the players and coaches of the school.
Chandigarh, 11th September 2024: Today, Hon’ble Governor of Punjab and Administrator UT Chandigarh, Shri Gulab Chand Kataria was present as the chief guest during the ‘Haste Khelte’ program which is a unique Sports Kits Distribution Drive, organized by the Competent Foundation at Government Girls Model Senior Secondary School Sector-18, Chandigarh. Shri Kataria presented the sports kits to the players and coaches of the school.
The Competent Foundation, led by Shri Sanjay Tandon, has taken the initiative to promote sports at the school level along with its ongoing campaign of boasting school education.
On the occasion, while appreciating the efforts of Competent Foundation, the Administrator UT Chandigarh said that this initiative would definitely be fruitful to bring out the sporting talent of school children. He emphasized that along with government support, general masses and corporates should support talented children so that talent for which the Competent Foundation has set an excellent example today.
Shri Kataria remembered the contributions of Late Shri Balramji Tondon in social sphere and said that it is the duty of every citizen to do something for humanity and society. He said that this time India has won 29 medals in Paralympics 2024 out of which 7 are gold medals; so helping any needy sporting talent to shine is our duty and not any kind of donation.
Shri Sanjay Tandon, President of the UT Cricket Association, said that under the ‘Haste Khelte’ Sports Kits Distribution Program, as many as 175 sports kits would be distributed among the deprived children showing interest in sports across all Govt schools of the city. These sports kits are meant for Kho Kho, Football, Kabaddi and Fencing which includes players jerseys and sports equipment. This benefit will be given to the children of age ten to sixteen years of low income group families, who are unable to show their talent in sports due to financial constraints.
Present on the occasion were Shri Rajiv Verma, Adviser to the Administrator UT Chandigarh, Education Secretary Shri Abhijeet Vijay Chaudhary and Deputy Director Higher Education Shri Amandeep Singh Bhatti.
Competent Foundation was founded in the year 2006 by former Deputy Chief Minister of Punjab and former Governor of Chhattisgarh, Late Shri Balramji Das Tandon. It organizes blood donation camps twice a year at the national level, free treatment to poor patients in PGI and GMCH 32 and provides equipment in medical institutions at regular intervals. At the time of Covid 19, the Competent Foundation played a vital role by setting up a Mini Covid Care Center in the city.
