Hoshiarpur- The "Punjab Prevention of Crimes Against Holy Religious Scriptures Act, 2025" bill introduced in the Punjab Assembly does not provide for punishment for insulting the statue of Guru Ravidas ji and the holy book Amritvani, the statue of Lord Valmiki ji, the statue of Sant Kabir ji and the statue of Sant Nabha Das. It also reflects the hateful mentality towards the Dalit society.
The above words were said by Shiromani Akali Dal leader Sanjeev Talwar while expressing his views on the bill introduced by the government today. He said that the anti-Dalit mentality of the Aam Aadmi Party had come to the fore in March 2022 itself. Arvind Kejriwal had announced before the elections that if the government is formed in Punjab, the Deputy Chief Minister will be from the Dalit community, but after the formation of the government, he did not fulfill this promise. Three and a half years have passed, but no Dalit has been made Deputy Chief Minister yet.
Talwar said that not only this, the spokesperson of the Bharatiya Janata Party in the Assembly supported the bill despite all these shortcomings in the bill, which also proves that the mindset of these speakers has been anti-Punjab and anti-Dalit. He said that the representatives of political parties seeking votes in the name of Dalits have shown their anti-goodwill mindset by not highlighting such a big flaw in this bill.
It is clear from today's examples that Kejriwal, Bhagwant Mann and his entire cabinet and other representatives present have an anti-Dalit mindset, which is why while introducing the "Punjab Prevention of Crimes against Holy Religious Texts Act 2025" in the Assembly, no provision was made for punishment for desecration of the deities and saints of Ravidasiya Samaj, Valmiki Samaj, Kabir Panth and Mahasamund.
Talwar warned that if the Punjab government tried to spoil the mutual brotherhood of the state in the name of harmony, then its consequences would be very bad.
