9 Challans Issued Against Drunk Driving
Kharar, September 11:- A special campaign was conducted against drivers operating vehicles under the influence of alcohol under the directions of Senior Superintendent of Police Varun Sharma, IPS.
Under this campaign, Shri Karnail Singh, PPS, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Traffic, formed separate teams with the assistance of the Traffic Police and conducted special checking operations. During the operation, action was taken against drivers found driving under the influence of alcohol in accordance with traffic rules, and a total of 09 traffic challans were issued.
On this occasion, Karnail Singh appealed to the general public never to use their vehicles after consuming alcohol. He said that driving after consuming alcohol or any other intoxicating substance can pose a serious threat not only to the life of the driver but also to the lives of other people travelling on the road.
He stated that if any person drives a vehicle after consuming alcohol, action will be taken against the person under Section 185 of the Motor Vehicles Act. Under this section, for a first-time violation, the offending driver may face imprisonment of up to six months or a fine, or both.
He appealed to the general public to also make their family members aware of this issue and never drive after consuming alcohol. Road accidents can be prevented and precious lives can be saved only by following traffic rules.
