6 Cases Registered 7 Accused Arrested in SubDivision Sangrur under AntiDrug Campaign

Sangrur, June 17:- Dr. Ravjot Grewal, SSP, Sangrur, informed the press that under the ongoing "War Against Drugs" and "Pindan De Pehredar" campaigns, the Sangrur Sub-Division police have taken significant action between June 9 and June 15, 2026. During this period, 6 cases related to drugs were registered, leading to the arrest of 7 suspects, from whom 30.15 grams of heroin/chitta were recovered. Additionally, one case under the Excise Act was registered, resulting in the arrest of one person and the recovery of 12 bottles of illicit country-made liquor.
Under the campaign against heinous and other crimes, 13 more suspects were arrested. To help those trapped in drug addiction, 2 individuals were admitted to a de-addiction center, and 2 others were provided with medication. Furthermore, a case was registered at Police Station City-1, Sangrur, under the Arms Act, leading to the arrest of one suspect and the recovery of a .32 bore country-made pistol along with 2 live cartridges.
Strict enforcement of traffic rules resulted in 184 traffic challans. Police also checked suspicious individuals, leading to action against 144 persons under 172 BNSS and preventive action against 11 individuals.
The public has been urged to cooperate in the anti-drug campaign. Meetings are being held with panchayats, sports clubs, and prominent citizens to raise awareness among the youth and the general public about reporting drug-related information to the police. The police are committed to taking immediate legal action against drug dealers and anti-social elements to eradicate the drug menace from its roots.
