21st installment of Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi released
Karnal, November 19: MLA Jagmohan Anand stated that the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana is the world's largest direct benefit transfer (DBT) scheme. Under this scheme, benefits worth more than ?3.90 lakh crore have been disbursed to farmers across the country so far. On Wednesday, the 21st installment, amounting to ?18,000 crore, was directly transferred to the accounts of farmers across the country.
Out of 98,000 registered farmers in Karnal district, approximately 78,000 farmers received an amount of approximately ?14 crore today. Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually joined the program from Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, and addressed the farmers at the event held at the NDRI auditorium.
MLA Jagmohan Anand, informing them that the scheme was launched in 2018-19, stated that small and marginal farmers constitute more than 85% of its beneficiaries. Each eligible farmer family receives ?6,000 annually in three equal installments (?2,000 each). A family consisting of husband, wife and minor children is considered a unit. Eligibility is if the land is in the records before February 1, 2019.
BJP District President Praveen Lathar and DDA Agriculture Dr. Wazir Singh also expressed gratitude to the Prime Minister and Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini. Dr. Wazir Singh said that the incidents of stubble burning in the district have reduced from 96 last year to only 18 this time, due to which Karnal is leading in crop residue management in the state.
At the program, progressive farmers shared their experiences on sugarcane production, natural farming, animal health, dairy farming and women empowerment.
