150 police personnel searched the suspected hideouts of drug smugglers in the district

Jaito, November 30: Under the leadership of the Honorable Chief Minister of Punjab, Shri Bhagwant Singh Mann, the Punjab government has launched a campaign in the name of war on drugs to eradicate drugs from Punjab. Under which drug smugglers and places where drugs are sold are being identified across Punjab. Under this, Faridkot Police, under the leadership of Dr. Pragya Jain, SSP Faridkot, conducted a large-scale 'Cordon and Search Operation' in the entire district.
The search was conducted in drug hotspots and sensitive areas, the main objective of which was to stop the supply of drugs at the ‘point of sale’ level. This operation was conducted simultaneously in all the 3 sub-divisions of the district from 6 am to 8:30 am on the directions of Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab Mr. Gaurav Yadav. This search operation was conducted in Faridkot under the supervision of Mr. Manvinderbir Singh SP (Local) Faridkot.
During which the officers of DSP Rack were asked to personally supervise this operation in different sub-divisions. During this search operation that lasted for about two and a half hours, 08 special teams of the Chief Officer Police Station were formed and checking was done by conducting surprise raids at the suspected hideouts of various drug smugglers.
Giving information in this regard, Dr. Pragya Jain SSP Faridkot said that as per the instructions of Honorable DGP Punjab Shri Gaurav Yadav Ji, strict action is being taken to eradicate drugs from the root, this search operation conducted by Faridkot Police is also a part of this action.
She said that during this, the persons against whom cases have been registered under NDPS and who have criminal records, have been raided and searched by police parties. During this, the suspicious persons were checked and the vehicles were checked on the basis of suspicion. Along with this, the area was cordoned off and the roads coming in and out were sealed and the suspicious persons were rounded up.
SSP Dr. Pragya Jain also clarified that the police officers have been instructed to thoroughly investigate the backward and forward links of all the cases registered under the NDPS Act and take strict action against those involved in drug trafficking. Along with this, the drug victims are also being encouraged to quit drugs and are being admitted to the drug de-addiction center.
SSP Faridkot Dr. Pragya Jain said that as a result of the hard work being done by the Faridkot Police against drugs, 106 cases have been registered and 158 accused have been arrested during the month of November under the war on drugs campaign, during which more than 2.8 kg heroin, 01 kg opium, 06 kg poppy, 1193 thousand drug pills/capsules and about 05 lakh 98 thousand drug money have been recovered.
Apart from this, after verifying the movable/immovable properties built by drug dealers/smugglers with the proceeds of drugs, during the last 15 months, the properties worth more than 09 crores of drug smugglers have been frozen after obtaining approval from the concerned authority.
