Amreli (Gujarat), April 22 - A trainee pilot died after a trainer plane belonging to a private aviation academy crashed and caught fire in a residential area of ??Gujarat's Amreli district on Tuesday afternoon. The plane hit a tree before falling into an open plot. Amreli Superintendent of Police Sanjay Kharat said that due to unknown reasons, the plane crashed in a residential area of ??Amreli city at 12:30 pm, due to which the trainee pilot died on the spot.
Kharat said that a Delhi-based aviation academy provides pilot training from Amreli airport. The trainee pilot, who was flying alone, died in the crash while the plane was gutted in the fire. However, no one else was injured in the accident.
The SP said that the local police have started the process of registering an accidental death case and investigating to find out the exact cause of the accident. Fire officer SC Garhvi said that on receiving information about the plane crash and the resulting fire in the plane, four teams of the local fire brigade reached Shastrinagar and the teams finally brought the fire under control.
