Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps has announced that this strategic waterway has been closed and any ship that tries to pass through it will face strong military action.

Iran has made it clear that it will no longer allow any ship belonging to its enemy countries to pass through this route.
According to a recent statement issued by Iranian officials, the ban is not limited to military vessels. Iran has said:
Strict blockade: Any ship arriving at or departing from ports of countries that support the US and Israel will be stopped.
Commercial targeting: Tehran can now also take action against commercial vessels that are affiliated with countries that stand in favor of Washington or Tel Aviv.
