Patiala, August 4: Preparations for the grand Kanwar Camp at Shri Kedar Nath Temple, Mathura Colony, Patiala, have been completed. Although the Temple Improvement Committee had planned to commence the camp on Monday, August 3, 2026, Kanwariyas (devotees of Lord Shiva) started arriving on Sunday, August 2. Members of the Temple Improvement Committee worked wholeheartedly to make all necessary arrangements for the devotees.
Ward No. 32 Municipal Councillor Ranjit Singh Chandok extended significant support by ensuring proper arrangements for electricity, water supply and sanitation. Members of the Parshuram Brahmin Sabha visited the temple, raised devotional slogans in praise of Lord Shiva, recited the Hanuman Chalisa and sang hymns dedicated to Lord Rama. The gathering was held under the leadership of Shiv Kumar Sharma, with all members of the Temple Improvement Committee present.
On the occasion, kheer (rice pudding) was distributed as prasad, and Tulsi saplings were gifted to devotees. The Satnam Hasija family planted 51 saplings, including Bael (Bilva), Shami, Amla, Harsingar (Night Jasmine), and other shade-giving trees, all considered sacred and dear to Lord Shiva. Greenman Bhagwan Das Juneja, Pramod and members of the Temple Improvement Committee were also present. Kheer prasad was served to all devotees.
Representatives of the Brahmin Sabha and Shavinder Sofat, son of Chhajju Ram Sofat, especially appreciated the efforts of the Satnam Hasija family and the Temple Improvement Committee. They said that since the installation of the grand idol of Lord Shiva and the formation of the committee, the temple has undergone a remarkable transformation. A community kitchen (langar) now operates regularly, and the faith and devotion of devotees have grown significantly.
Satnam Hasija said that all these efforts are possible only because of the blessings of Lord Shiva and the selfless service rendered by every member of the Temple Improvement Committee with complete dedication. He added that comprehensive arrangements have been made for the Kanwariyas, including waterproof tents, medical assistance, bathing facilities, langar service and other essential amenities.
Bhagwan Das Juneja and other distinguished guests also praised the dedicated efforts of the Temple Improvement Committee. Every evening after the temple Aarti, the Satnam Hasija family distributes prasad in the form of kheer, jalebi, khichdi, fruits and other offerings to the devotees.
