Nawanshahr, October 30 (Jatinder Pal Singh Kaler):- The issue of the medical college proposed in the name of Shaheed-e-Azam Sardar Bhagat Singh Ji in Nawanshahr has once again gained attention. Senior youth leader of the Shiromani Akali Dal (Badal), Sarpanch Nishanveer Singh Bheen, has directly questioned the government, asking when the medical college will finally be built.
Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann had laid the foundation stone of the medical college in the name of Shaheed-e-Azam Sardar Bhagat Singh Ji in Nawanshahr on March 23. At that time, people had high hopes that the district would get its own medical college, healthcare facilities would improve significantly and young people would get an opportunity to pursue medical education. However, despite the passage of considerable time, people are still waiting for construction work to begin.
Sarpanch Nishanveer Singh Bheen said that the question was why construction of the medical college had not started even after the foundation stone was laid. He asked when the people of Nawanshahr would get access to the facilities of this medical college. He said the government should give the public a clear answer about the current status of the project and ensure that construction work begins soon.
He said that merely making announcements in the names of martyrs is not enough; completing the projects initiated in their names is also the responsibility of the government. Shaheed Bhagat Singh Ji’s name is not merely a name for the people, but a source of inspiration. The college proposed in his name is not just a building, but a symbol of fulfilling the dreams of the martyrs.
The issue has also become a subject of discussion among local residents. People are asking why the work has not progressed when the foundation stone has already been laid. They are demanding that the government explain the reasons for the delay and announce a definite timeline for the construction of the medical college.
