Derabassi, February 23:- Under the Chief Minister's Pilgrimage Scheme, run by the Punjab government, the sixth bus departed today from Kudawala village in the Derabassi constituency to take the Sangat to the holy city of Sri Amritsar to visit Sri Harimandir Sahib and other historical and religious sites.
Constituency MLA Kuljit Singh Randhawa personally attended the event and flagged off the bus.
On the occasion of this holy pilgrimage, MLA Randhawa met the Sangat and extended his best wishes and prayed for a pleasant, safe, and spiritually blissful journey. He said that this scheme of the Punjab government is proving to be a boon for senior citizens and religious devotees. Under this scheme, various historical and religious sites in the state are being visited free of cost, creating an atmosphere of joy and enthusiasm among the Sangat.
He further informed that this is the sixth bus from the Derabassi constituency to take the Sangat to Sri Amritsar Sahib. He assured that more buses would be sent under this scheme in the future so that more people could benefit from this holy pilgrimage.
This bus would take pilgrims to Sri Harimandir Sahib, the Durgiana Temple, the Lord Valmiki shrine in Amritsar, and also show them Jallianwala Bagh and the Retreat Ceremony at the Wagah Border.
Coordinator Jaswinder Singh, the village sarpanch, and a large number of villagers were also present on the occasion. The villagers thanked the Punjab government and the local MLA, calling this initiative a public-friendly initiative.
