Bhankharpur (Derabassi), May 30:- Under the Chief Minister's Pilgrimage Scheme of the Punjab Government, today, the MLA from village Bhankharpur S. Kuljit Singh Randhawa flagged off two buses (49th and 50th) of pilgrims for visiting the religious and historical places of Shri Amritsar Sahib.
On this occasion, great enthusiasm was seen among the elders and other pilgrims. Happiness was clearly visible on their faces and the feeling of devotion in their hearts.
During this three-day religious journey, the pilgrims will visit many important religious and historical places including Shri Darbar Sahib, Shri Durgiana Mandir, Shri Valmiki Tirath Sthal, Jallianwala Bagh and Wagah Border.
MLA S. Kuljit Singh Randhawa said that the objective of the Chief Minister's Pilgrimage Scheme is to enable the elderly and devotees to visit major religious places without any financial burden. He said that no fee is charged from the devotees for this pilgrimage and the entire arrangement of accommodation and food is made by the Punjab Government. He said that under the scheme, persons of 50 years of age or above are eligible for the pilgrimage and this public interest scheme is being continuously successfully run by the government.
