Nawanshahr (Des Raj Bali):- The two-day annual wrestling fair will be held in Bains village, near Nawanshahr, on October 17 and 18 with the support of village residents and NRI community members.

Tarsem Singh Bains, a member of the wrestling fair organising committee, said the fair is dedicated to the memory of Lord Balaram Dau Ji, the elder brother of Lord Shri Krishna. It is organised every year on the first Saturday and Sunday during Navratri in the Punjabi lunar month of Assu. Renowned wrestlers from famous wrestling arenas across India and abroad participate in the event.

He said the fair would be held at the ancient Shri Krishna Baldev Ji temple on Saturday, October 17. Along with wrestlers arriving from outside the village, wrestling bouts for local children would also be organised.

On Sunday, October 18, the fair would take place in an open field outside the village, where renowned wrestlers would demonstrate their strength in wrestling bouts.

The organisers have made extensive arrangements and completed preparations to ensure the fair runs smoothly and is broadcast live, allowing NRI community members living in India and abroad to enjoy the event as well. Other members of the organising committee were also present on the occasion.
