Asandh/Karnal, November 19: The Nagar Kirtan Yatra, being organized to commemorate the 350th martyrdom anniversary of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji, the embodiment of sacrifice and martyrdom, the ninth Sikh Guru, entered Karnal district today. The Yatra, which began in Faridabad, passed through Gharaunda and reached Khorakheri and Moonak. A grand welcome was given at the Moonak Gurudwara, and a langar prasad program was organized. Following the langar prasad, the Nagar Kirtan Yatra proceeded from Moonak via Gagsina and Bansa to Jundla. The Yatra halted overnight at the Dera Kar Seva Gurudwara in Jundla.
During this period, the Nagar Kirtan Yatra received a dignified and grand welcome at each location by various social and religious organizations. During this, citizens bowed their heads before the holy Sri Guru Granth Sahib. Flowers were showered on the procession, and prasad was distributed to the devotees accompanying the procession.
Gulabi Singh, former Chairman and General Secretary of the Haryana Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee, while addressing the gathering in Moonak during the procession, stated that this procession commemorates the supreme sacrifice made by Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji in November 1675 at Chandni Chowk, Delhi, to protect the right to freedom of faith and conscience. Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji's sacrifice symbolizes his courage and unwavering devotion to his religion. Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji sacrificed his life for the welfare of humanity and the protection of religion. School children presented presentations related to Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji during the procession.
He stated that with the efforts of Chief Minister Shri Nayab Saini, four such processions are being organized across the state. The yatra will conclude on November 25th with a state-level event in Kurukshetra, attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi as the chief guest.
On this occasion, the Muslim community in Moonak gave a grand welcome to the Nagar Kirtan Yatra, showering flowers and providing refreshments, which set an example of mutual brotherhood for the people.
On Thursday morning, November 20th, the Nagar Kirtan Yatra will depart from Dera Kar Seva Gurdwara in Jundla and reach Tharwa Majra via villages Pyont, Pakka Kheda, and Sheikhpura. From Tharwa Majra, the yatra will travel through Jalmana, Thari, and Kabulpur Kheda to Dera Phula Singh, where it will rest overnight at Bada Gurdwara Assandh.
Sardarni Simranjit Kaur, member of the Haryana Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee, Gulab Singh, former Chairman, General Secretary, Haryana Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee, Bhai Amritpal Singh, Gurdwara Manji Sahib, Karnal, officials from the district's Gurdwara Management Committees, and all the villagers were present on this occasion.
