Nilokheri/Karnal, April 13:- The Jallianwala Bagh Massacre of 1919 stands as an extremely tragic and indelible chapter in Indian history. The echoes of the bullets rained down upon unarmed and innocent people on that day still shake our hearts today, reminding us of the immense price paid for our freedom. This observation was made by Dr. Virender Singh Chauhan, Director of the Haryana Institute of Rural Development. He was addressing listeners today during the online program "Ram-Ram Haryana," broadcast via the institute's radio station, Radio Gramoday 90.4. During the program, the painful scene was recalled—the moment when innocent people were fired upon, the entire Bagh (garden) reverberated with screams and cries, and the day of Baisakhi went down in history as "Bloody Baisakhi." This is a dark chapter that the nation can never forget.
Dr. Virender Singh Chauhan stated that the "Bloody Baisakhi" of Jallianwala Bagh is not merely an isolated incident, but a symbol of patriotism, courage, and sacrifice. This event further ignited the flame of freedom across the entire nation and inspired every Indian to stand up against injustice. He added that the sacrifice of the martyrs of Jallianwala Bagh will forever remain a source of inspiration for the people of the country. Their selflessness teaches us that we must always remain vigilant and dedicated to safeguarding the unity, integrity, and freedom of the nation.
Paying tribute to the martyrs of Jallianwala Bagh, the speakers remarked that their sacrifice laid the foundation for the country's independence, and their martyrdom will continue to inspire the citizens of the nation for all time. On this occasion, everyone affirmed in unison: "The sacrifice of our heroes is the nation's pride," and declared that the supreme offering they made in the struggle for freedom shall remain immortal forever. Dr. Virendra Singh Chauhan stated that on this very day, the Tenth Master, Guru Gobind Singh Ji, established the Khalsa Panth at Sri Anandpur Sahib, thereby providing a new direction to society. This historic moment—the creation of the Khalsa—stands as a symbol of courage, sacrifice, and the defense of righteousness. He emphasized that, while paying homage to Guru Gobind Singh Ji's extraordinary personality and the divine ideals of the Khalsa, we must remain eternally grateful for his unparalleled contributions to Indian culture and the Panth; furthermore, by following the path he laid out, we should strive to strengthen the spirit of unity, courage, and service within society.
