Patiala- The Technical Services Union Punjab (Kuldeep Khanna group) organized protest rallies across all division centers in Punjab today, June 8, 2026, to condemn the recent police brutality against apprentice linemen. These linemen have been engaged in an indefinite protest for regular recruitment outside the Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) head office at Shera Wala Gate, Patiala.
On June 5, 2026, while these protesters were sitting on a peaceful dharna in accordance with Punjab government directives, they were subjected to brutal lathi-charge by the local DSP. As a result, 10 protesters were hospitalized at Rajindra Hospital, and 9 were arrested by the police and taken to an undisclosed location.
Expressing their outrage against this incident, the union organized protests across the state. Farmer leader Surinder Singh Khalsa participated in the rally to show solidarity. During the rally held in Patiala, Circle President Mangat Singh of the Technical Services Union declared that if the demands of the protesting linemen are not met and they are not recruited immediately, the union will further intensify their agitation.
