Jalandhar:- After serious discussions during the meeting of the Board of Trust of the Desh Bhagat Yadgar Committee, a roadmap of various social, educational and cultural activities was prepared for the coming months.
It was decided in the meeting that like every year, this time too **Student Awareness Camp** will be organized at Desh Bhagat Yadgar Hall from 28, 29 and 30 August 2026 (Friday to Sunday). Lectures, discussions and question and answer sessions will be organized for the students on three important topics during the camp.
On August 28, at the inauguration ceremony of the camp, Committee President Kulwant Singh Sandhu and General Secretary Gurmeet Singh will present their views on "The dangers of the open trade policy being imposed on the Indian people by kneeling before American imperialism". On the same day, in a session dedicated to the martyrdom centenary of the Babbar Akali Movement, the Vice President of the Committee Dr. Parminder will address on "The role of revolutionary movements in the freedom struggle, their objectives and the fascist attacks carried out to destroy that objective".
There will be two sessions on August 29. In the first session, renowned rationalist leader of Punjab Rajinder Bhadour will share his views on the inclusion of non-scientific and mythical subjects in the education syllabus, efforts to distort revolutionary history and the role of youth. In the second session, Trustee of Desh Bhagat Yadgar Committee and Convenor of the Library Committee Harvinder Bhandal will discuss the impact of social media and new information and communication systems on the young generation and its fatal consequences.
An open discussion will be held with the students during the closing ceremony of the camp on August 30. On this occasion, the participating students will be honored by the committee by presenting certificates and sets of books.
The Board of Trust also decided that a special function will be organized on **September 27** at 11 am on the occasion of Shaheed Bhagat Singh's birth anniversary, in which eminent scholar Sumel Sidhu will deliver the keynote address on the topic "Intellectual maturity of Shaheed Bhagat Singh and his contribution as a symbol of revolution".
During the meeting, the special meetings, centenary campaign and preparations for the fair held by the Cultural Wing in the villages related to the Babbar Akali Movement, were also reviewed. The members also discussed the issue of taking awareness convoys to the villages.
The meeting was attended by Advocate Rajinder Mand, Advocate N.K. Jeet, Ripduman Dhir, Darshan Maisar Khana, Jagsir Sira (Village Gidder, Bathinda), Comrade Surinder Tiwari, Comrade Ajaib Singh, Swaran Bhangu, Rangkarmi Pradeep Raja, Nazar Singh Sihaura, Comrade Prem Singh, Comrade Gian Chand and other members. During the meeting, tributes were also paid to the departed comrades associated with 'Nawaan Zamana'.
Committee President Kulwant Singh Sandhu, General Secretary Gurmeet Singh and Cultural Wing Convener Amolak Singh jointly informed the press about the decisions of the meeting.
