Karnal, September 16:- The Karnal district police are continuously taking strict and effective action against persons involved in possessing illegal weapons and their purchase and sale. In this connection, the CIA-3 Karnal team, under the leadership of In-charge Inspector Ajey Sagwan, along with Head Constable Jitendra Singh and his team, successfully arrested an accused with illegal weapons on the basis of secret information.
The arrested accused has been identified as Vikas alias Vicky, son of Om Prakash, resident of Karn Vihar, District Karnal.
During patrolling, the police team received secret information that the accused was present in the Kachhwa Road, Pundrak Canal Bridge area of Karnal with illegal weapons. Acting immediately on the information, the team apprehended the accused. During the search, one illegal .32-bore pistol, two rounds, one country-made .315-bore firearm, one round, a motorcycle and a mobile phone were recovered from his possession.
A case has been registered against the accused under the Arms Act at Sadar Karnal Police Station. Preliminary interrogation has revealed that criminal cases had also been registered against the accused in the past. The police produced the accused before the Hon’ble Court, which granted five days of police remand.
During the police remand, the accused will be questioned in detail, and information will be gathered regarding the purchase and sale of illegal weapons, their source and other aspects connected with the case. Further investigation in the case is underway.
