Hoshiarpur: A Srimad Bhagavat Katha Gyan Yagna is being organized by Sanjeev Sharma in the village of Jhonowal. On the first day, Saint Baba Bal Ji Maharaj graced the occasion and blessed the congregation. On the first day of the Srimad Bhagavat Katha, the narrator, Anandchetan Ji Maharaj, captivated the assembled devotees with his discourse. On this first day, Anandchetan Ji Maharaj spoke about the liberation and salvation of Dhundhkari. He narrated that Dhundhkari had been reborn as a ghost due to his wicked deeds.
His brother, Gokarna, organized a Bhagavat Saptah (seven-day recitation of the Bhagavat Purana) to liberate him from this painful existence and grant him salvation. He also specifically explained the mystery of the seven knots of bamboo. It is said that Dhundhkari listened to the Katha while sitting inside a bamboo knot. After the seven days of the Katha, the seven knots of bamboo burst one by one, symbolizing the destruction of ignorance and sins, after which Dhundhkari attained a divine form and went to Vaikuntha (the abode of Vishnu).
Maharaj Ji shed light on the character of Gokarna, explaining that he was the son of the Brahmin Atmadev and was born from the ear of a cow, which is why he was named 'Gokarna'. He was a highly knowledgeable and detached ascetic. Through an anecdote, Maharaj Ji conveyed the message about the importance of the seven-day Katha, emphasizing that the Bhagavat Katha has the power to liberate even the most heinous sinners.
He also clarified that since a person's birth and death occur within these seven days (Monday to Sunday), listening to the seven-day Katha makes one's life successful.
