Sherpur/Dhuri, September 1:- As part of the efforts being taken by the Punjab government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann to connect the youth with sports, provide better infrastructure for sports at the village level and provide a suitable environment for the players to hone their talents, OSD Sukhvir Singh today inaugurated the newly built sports stadiums in village Katron and Qila Hakima of Dhuri constituency.
On this occasion, OSD Sukhvir Singh said that a sports stadium has been prepared at a cost of Rs. 25.87 lakh in village Qila Hakima, while a stadium has been constructed at a cost of Rs. 12.51 lakh in village Katron. He said that with the construction of these sports stadiums, the youth of the area will get better facilities for sports in their villages and they will be able to hone their talents in various sports.
The OSD said that the main objective of the Punjab government is to connect the youth of the villages with sports and channelize their energy in a constructive direction. With the availability of modern sports facilities at the village level, the youth will get a good environment for practice and new sports talent will emerge from the rural areas.
He said that sports play an important role in keeping the youth away from drugs and other social evils. Therefore, the Punjab government is giving special emphasis on further strengthening the sports culture in the state and developing the necessary infrastructure for sports in the villages.
He said that the youth of Punjab are very enthusiastic about sports and the government is continuously making efforts to provide them with the necessary facilities and opportunities. He appealed to the villagers and the youth to take maximum advantage of these new sports stadiums and participate in sports in large numbers.
On this occasion, Block Samiti Chairman Charan Singh, Zila Parishad Member Harjinder Singh Kanjhla, Amritpal Singh, Gagan Jawandha, Sukhdev Singh, village panchayat representatives, prominent personalities, sports enthusiasts, youth and a large number of villagers were present.
