Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar, September 06, 2026:- ECI-appointed Roll Observer for SIR-2026, IAS officer Mr. Mohammad Tayyab (2007 batch), visited Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar district today to review the ongoing Special Intensive Revision-2026 process, particularly the progress regarding submission and disposal of claims and objections.
During his visit, the Roll Observer inspected various polling booths in the district to review arrangements and facilities provided to voters. He visited three polling booths located at Government Girls Senior Secondary School, Sohana, under Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar constituency, as well as polling booths at Government Elementary School, Mundi Kharar, and Government High School, Desumajra, under Kharar constituency.
Interacting with Booth Level Officers (BLOs) and citizens present at the booths, Mr. Mohammad Tayyab inquired about the registration of new voters, correction of details in electoral rolls, and address shifting procedures. He appealed to eligible citizens to submit Form 6 for new voter registration, Form 6A for NRI voter registration, and Form 8 for correction or address shifting by September 12, 2026.
The Roll Observer held a detailed meeting with Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Election Officer, Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar, Mrs. Komal Mittal, to review the progress of claims, objections, notice stages, public hearings, and disposals under SIR-2026.
Additionally, a comprehensive meeting was held with representatives of political parties and Booth Level Agents at the District Administrative Complex. During this interaction, the Roll Observer received feedback regarding the disposal of claims, objections, and notices issued.
Meanwhile, as per ECI guidelines, special camps were set up today, September 6, across all polling booths in Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar district. These camps operated from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM, providing citizens with electoral roll services.
Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Election Officer Mrs. Komal Mittal urged all eligible youth and citizens aged 18 or above whose names are not yet enrolled to register themselves.
She stated that BLOs remained present at polling booths to assist citizens with voter registration and related services.
The District Election Officer informed that claims and objections under SIR-2026 can be filed from August 13 to September 12, 2026, and will be disposed of by October 8, 2026. The final electoral roll will be published on October 12, 2026.
Mrs. Mittal advised eligible citizens to verify their names and details in the electoral roll and submit the necessary forms for registration, correction, or shifting within the stipulated time frame.
For voter assistance, information can be accessed via the 1950 toll-free helpline. Citizens can also utilize the ECINET Voter Helpline App and Voters’ Service Portal for voter registration and detail modification.
During the visit, the Roll Observer assessed the overall progress of SIR-2026 while gathering feedback on claims, objections, and notices through discussions with various stakeholders.
