Hoshiarpur, July 26, 2026:- The sacred Shrimad Bhagwat Katha being held at Darbar Bapu Ganga Das, Mahilpur, continues amidst an atmosphere of deep faith and devotion. While soulfully narrating Lord Krishna's 'Govardhan Leela' (divine play involving Mount Govardhan), the narrator conveyed a message of righteousness, faith, and true wisdom to the devotees.
The narrator explained that as Lord Krishna grew beyond his childhood, he urged the residents of Braj to worship Giriraj Govardhan instead of Lord Indra. He explained that throughout life, humans strive to satisfy the desires of their senses, yet these desires are never truly satiated; therefore, one should walk the path of true wisdom.
He recounted how Nanda Baba also counseled the people of Braj that if an old, erroneous tradition persists in a family or society, it should be abandoned once true knowledge is attained. Subsequently, the residents of Braj set out towards Giriraj Govardhan carrying offerings for worship, food, and other essentials. Those unable to walk the distance arrived using bullock carts, horse-drawn carriages, and other vehicles. The narrator stated that if a devotee is unable to perform the circumambulation (*parikrama*) on foot, they may do so using any mode of transport, but the act must be performed with sincere faith.
He mentioned that Lord Krishna himself joined the residents of Braj to perform the first circumambulation of Giriraj Govardhan and offered a variety of dishes to Giriraj Maharaj—ranging from simple preparations like *moong dal* to elaborate delicacies. Following this tradition, '56 Bhog' (fifty-six varieties of food offerings) were presented to Giriraj Maharaj at the venue, after which *Prasad* was distributed among the devotees.
During the narration, the *bhajans* (devotional songs) presented by the narrator—"Main toh Govardhan ko jaaun, mere veer na maane mera manva" and "Shri Govardhan Maharaj tere maathe mukut viraj rahyo"—immersed the devotees in the blissful essence of devotion. Key volunteers—including Mandeep Singh Bains, Paramjit Singh Bains (Inspector), Anil Kumar, Vicky Agnihotri, Ravi Kumar, Vicky, Pinky, Isha Garg, and Manish, along with all members of the Katha Committee—were seen swaying with devotion during the *bhajans*.
The Katha Committee has appealed to all spiritually inclined devotees from the town and surrounding areas to attend the *Shrimad Bhagwat Katha*—held daily at 6:00 PM—along with their families and reap spiritual benefits. Arrangements for *Langar Prasad* have also been made for all devotees following the *Katha*.
