Mumbai:- The stock market recorded a big decline today and Sensex fell by 1690 points and Nifty by 487 points. Earlier, the Indian market had seen a two-day rally, but today the main indices of the stock market, Sensex and Nifty, closed with a decline of more than 2 percent. This decline was recorded due to the weak trend of global markets. Currently, there is a war between the US-Israel and Iran in West Asia, due to which investors in the markets are worried.
The 30-share BSE Sensex closed at 73,583.22 down by 1,690.23 points (2.25 percent). During the day, it had fallen by 1,739.04 points (2.31 percent) to 73,534.41. While the 50-share NSE Nifty fell 486.85 points (2.09 per cent) to close at 22,819.60.
Among the 30 Sensex companies, Reliance Industries recorded the highest decline of 4.55 per cent, followed by Interglobe Aviation, Bajaj Finance, State Bank of India, Eternal and HDFC Bank. On the other hand, Tata Consultancy Services, Bharti Airtel and Power Grid were among the laggards.
Global oil benchmark, Brent crude oil rose 1.72 per cent to 109.9 US dollars per barrel. At the same time, the rupee fell 86 paise to close at another new record low of 94.82 against the US dollar. Crude oil prices above US$100 per barrel, continuous depreciation of the rupee and continuous outflow of foreign funds have adversely affected the market.
