Chandigarh, October 15:- The Haryana Government has launched a special initiative to make the National Capital Region (NCR) cleaner, safer and pollution-free.
According to a government spokesperson, it is time to immediately scrap diesel vehicles that are 10 years old and petrol vehicles that are 15 years old. Older vehicles not only cause significantly higher air pollution but are also more expensive to operate and unsafe from a road safety perspective.
The government has appealed to vehicle owners to contribute to creating a cleaner NCR and a greener future by taking their 10-year-old diesel vehicles and 15-year-old petrol vehicles to the nearest Registered Vehicle Scrapping Facility (RVSF) and opting for newer, cleaner vehicles. Safe scrapping arrangements are available at RVSF centres. This will help reduce pollution and road accidents while enabling the recycling of reusable materials from vehicles.
The spokesperson further stated that if people fail to take their old vehicles to RVSF centres for scrapping at the earliest, strict legal action may be taken as per the rules. To realise the vision of a cleaner NCR and a greener tomorrow, the government has urged citizens to scrap their old vehicles responsibly and cooperate with the campaign.
