Chandigarh, October 11: Ahead of the Punjab Assembly elections, the Sant Namdev community has stepped up preparations to demonstrate its strength and unity in Chandigarh. The community’s annual religious conference, scheduled for October 18 at Sant Namdev Bhawan in Sector 21, will serve as a platform to raise a collective voice on social concerns. Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini will attend the conference as the chief guest. In connection with the event, community representatives are conducting outreach campaigns in various parts of Punjab. As part of this initiative, a delegation invited Haryana Cabinet Minister Ranbir Gangwa to the conference. The delegation and community members also invited Sanjeev Gangwa, son of Cabinet Minister Ranbir Gangwa, a member of the state executive of the BJP Yuva Morcha and in-charge of Dabwali.

Organised through the joint efforts of the Tank Khatri Sabha (Regd.), Chandigarh, Sant Namdev Samaj, Haryana, and the All India Khatri Tank Pratinidhi Sabha, the annual religious conference is expected to be a historic event. Ragi groups and religious preachers will convey the teachings of Sant Namdev Ji during the conference. Langar will also be served at the conclusion of the programme.

Sant Namdev Samaj president Satbir Verma said that community representatives had visited various areas of Punjab, including Bathinda, Sangrur, Patiala, Hoshiarpur and Jalandhar, and invited people to attend the conference. These visits witnessed considerable enthusiasm among community members. He said people from the community now want to come together on a common platform and raise their issues more forcefully. The conference in Chandigarh will provide an important opportunity to demonstrate the community’s unity and make its voice heard. He expressed confidence that a large number of community members from Punjab and other areas would attend and raise issues concerning social interests.

Satbir Verma, Haryana president of the Sant Namdev Samaj and former chairman, said that community unity should not remain limited to a conference but should also be reflected in collective efforts on issues concerning social interests and the future of young people. He said the teachings of Sant Namdev Ji convey the message of brotherhood, service and equality. The conference in Chandigarh will bring community members together on one platform, encourage mutual dialogue and provide an opportunity to raise their collective voice. He appealed to all members of the community to participate enthusiastically in the conference.

Sanjeev Gangwa, son of Ranbir Gangwa, a member of the state executive of the BJP Yuva Morcha and in-charge of Dabwali, said that the growing drug problem in Punjab and the social challenges associated with it were matters of serious concern. Addressing these issues requires raising awareness among young people, expanding educational and employment opportunities, and engaging them in positive activities. He said social organisations and families have an important role to play in this effort. Joint efforts by the government and society are essential to resolving public problems and promoting public welfare.
