Hoshiarpur: On the occasion of Sanskrit Diwas, former MP and former BJP State President Avinash Rai Khanna issued a press release stating that Sanatan Dharma and our timeless culture came into existence the moment the first sunrise occurred and the first ray of light spread across creation.
Khanna explained that 'Sanatan' signifies that which is eternal, truthful, and indestructible.
He remarked that the sages and seers of our culture established such ideals and guiding principles for humanity—enshrined in the Vedas, Shastras, Puranas, Upanishads, and the Gita—that will continue to fly the banner of our culture's triumph as long as creation itself exists.
Avinash Rai Khanna noted that the evolution of life first took place on the banks of the Narmada River in the Indian peninsula; it is the world's oldest river. The world's oldest dinosaur eggs and fossils have been discovered here.
He stated that Sanskrit is the world's oldest language and the mother of all Indian languages. The literal meaning of 'Sanskrit' is 'perfect language.' Before Sanskrit, the world was divided into small, fragmented dialects that lacked grammar and vocabulary. The practice of writing language in scripts originated in India.
Scripts from across the globe evolved from the Brahmi and Devanagari scripts. Brahmi is an ancient script, considered even older than Devanagari.
Khanna mentioned that the people of the Harappan civilization used this script, and the Sanskrit language was also written in it.
Jain mythology recounts that Rishabhdev—the first Tirthankara who brought civilization to humanity—had a daughter named Brahmi, who is credited with discovering this form of writing.
The civilization that flourished along the banks of the Indus and Saraswati rivers in the ancient world was the most prosperous, civilized, and intellectually advanced. There is ample evidence of this; it extended from present-day Afghanistan to India. Khanna stated that the Saraswati was a far more massive river than the Indus in ancient times. The world's first scripture was composed on the banks of the Saraswati River.
According to archaeologists, this civilization emerged around 9000 BCE, experienced its golden age around 3000 BCE, and vanished by approximately 1800 BCE due to a massive natural disaster. While the Saraswati River disappeared, the people of the region migrated westward.
Khanna remarked that all languages ??originated from Sanskrit. He noted that all auspicious ceremonies, from birth to death, are conducted in Sanskrit.
He urged the government to make Sanskrit a compulsory subject up to the +2 level.
