New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday inaugurated a grand international exhibition of the sacred relics of Lord Buddha. The relics, which were discovered in 1898, have returned home as India's sacred heritage after a long wait of almost a century (125 years).
Addressing the event in the presence of Buddhist scholars and diplomats, the Prime Minister said that the knowledge and path shown by Lord Buddha is for all humanity. He stressed that for India, these sacred relics are not just archaeological objects, but are an integral part of our venerable heritage and civilization. According to the Prime Minister, Lord Buddha belongs to everyone and he unites all people.
Prime Minister Modi on this occasion specially thanked the Godrej Group, with whose cooperation the return of these relics of Lord Buddha was possible. According to the official statement, these relics are one of the oldest and historically significant sources directly linked to Lord Buddha.
According to the evidence, the Piparhava site has been identified as ancient Kapilavastu. This is the historical place where Lord Buddha spent his early life before becoming a monk. These relics hold a very important place in the study of early Buddhism.
